Most job descriptions are written to sound impressive and end up sounding like every other job description. A good one does the opposite: it is specific enough that the right people lean in and the wrong people move on.

Cut the cliches

Phrases like fast-paced environment, team player, and rockstar carry no information. Every company claims them. Replace each with something concrete about your actual work.

Lead with the real day-to-day

Open with what the person will actually do, in plain language. Compare a weak line like support the team in a dynamic setting with a strong one: prepare weekly quotations for our B2B customers, chase them to a decision, and keep our CRM current. The strong version tells a candidate exactly what their Tuesday looks like.

List honest must-haves

Separate the few things that genuinely matter from the long wish list. A short, honest must-have list invites capable people who might otherwise self-reject.

Make it effortless to apply

Every extra field and sign-up costs you good applicants. Keep it to a name, an email, a resume, and one or two focused questions. Hyrewell gives you a single apply link that does exactly that, then screens every applicant against your must-haves automatically.
